Vienna shares with New York, Geneva and Nairobi one of four headquarters of the UNO (United Nations Organizations). Architect Albert Wimmers new Conference Building within the UNO-City complex in Vienna opened in 2009 and represents an important milestone in the history and work of the UNO. Due to the importance and significance of this building, an extensive bilingual (English/German) book was published by Doris Rothauer and Albert Wimmer.
Its initial presentation took place in New York in July 2010 sponsored by the International Peace Institute.
